Casoron 4G is a granular herbicide containing 4% Dichlobenil (2,6-dichlorobenzonitrile) used for the control of various annual and perennial weeds, grasses, and nutsedges. It is designed for use in a wide range of settings, including orchards, nurseries, fruit and nut crops (such as apples, berries, and cherries), cranberries, woody ornamentals, shelterbelts, and non-crop areas like fences or industrial sites. Application is typically done via soil surface treatment in late fall or early spring, where granules must be thoroughly incorporated into the soil through watering-in. Key handling notes include avoiding application to areas where surface water is present to prevent groundwater contamination and ensuring granules do not accumulate in foliage, especially in conifers. Users must follow specific timing and incorporation instructions to ensure effectiveness and prevent crop injury. Always follow the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) when applying in agricultural settings.

Timing & weather

• Apply in late fall (Nov 15 - Feb 15) or early spring before weed emergence.
• Do not apply when windy.
• Do not apply if heavy rain is expected to cause runoff.

Use restrictions 5

• Do not apply directly to water or areas where surface water is present.
• Do not use in enclosed structures.
• Do not graze livestock in treated areas for 12 months after treatment.
• Do not plant or transplant into treated soil.
• Do not apply to rotational crops if dichlobenil is not registered for that crop; treated soil remains restricted for one year.
