Cutrine® Ultra is an algaecide, herbicide, and cyanobactericide used to control various types of algae and certain aquatic plants. Its active ingredient is a Copper ethanolamine Complex, which provides 0.9 lbs of elemental copper per gallon. It is designed for use in diverse water bodies including lakes, rivers, potable water reservoirs, farm/fish ponds, irrigation systems, and stormwater detention ponds. The product controls planktonic (suspended) algae, filamentous (mat-forming) algae, benthic (bottom-growing) algae, and specific rooted aquatic plants like Hydrilla verticillata and Egeria densa. Application methods include surface spray/injection, slow-flowing or quiescent water applications, and drip systems for irrigation conveyance systems. When using the drip system, the product helps prevent clogging of headgates and suction screens. Users should note that copper levels must be managed to avoid environmental hazards to aquatic organisms. Handling requires specific PPE, including long-sleeve shirts, long pants, socks, shoes, and goggles or a face shield. Always follow specific dilution and application rate charts provided in the label for the specific water depth and algae density to ensure effective control and safety.
