AquaBac® XT is a microbial larvicide consisting of Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis (Bti) Strain BMP 144 solids, spores, and insecticidal toxins. It is formulated as an aqueous suspension and is designed to quickly control mosquito larvae, often within 24 hours. The product is effective against mosquitoes, blackflies, nuisance flies (Psychoda spp. and Chironomus spp.), and nuisance aquatic midges (Chironomidae) across various habitats. It is used to kill larvae before they reach the breeding adult stage, including those that may transmit West Nile virus, encephalitis, and heartworm disease. For application, it can be used in various settings including floodwater, ditches, rice fields, pastures, standing pools, and various water bodies. Application methods include ground equipment or aerial application. Users should note that the product is highly effective in water with high concentrations of suspended solids. When handling, personal protective equipment (PPE) should include long-sleeved shirts and long pants, waterproof gloves, and shoe covers. If inhaled, move the person to fresh air; if skin contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Always keep out of reach of children.
